Alhousseini Mohamed Anivolla, born in 1973 in Niger, is a Tuareg musician known for his contributions to desert blues. Raised as a nomad in the Sahara, Anivolla learned to play guitar autodidactically after moving to Niamey in 1987 due to drought. He quickly became a sought-after guitarist, collaborating with artists like Abdallah Oumbadougou and Tinariwen. From 1995 to 2004, he was part of the band Etran N'Guefan/Niger, which later evolved into Etran Finatawa. As the bandleader from 2007 to 2015, Anivolla toured globally with them. In 2012, he embarked on a solo career with his ensemble Anewal, releasing albums like Anewal/The Walking Man and Osas-It's Time. Collaborations include works with Guy Buttery, Eric Triton, and Girum Mezmur, notably for the album Afropentatonism. Anivolla's music highlights cultural preservation and societal issues. He has been recognized as the Artist of the Year at the 2016 Afrika Festival Mamling in Austria.
