Günther Fischer, born on June 23, 1944, in Teplitz-Schönau, Reichsgau Sudetenland, is a German jazz musician, saxophonist, bandleader, and composer. He formed his first trio in 1960 and studied music education at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Zwickau from 1960 to 1963. Fischer continued his education at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin from 1965 until 1969, focusing on clarinet, saxophone, conducting, composition, and arrangement. In 1967, he founded the Günther Fischer Band, which toured extensively through Europe, Asia, and Africa. Fischer's compositions span various styles, from funk and soul jazz to rock and lieder. He wrote the soundtracks for films like Schöner Gigolo, armer Gigolo (1978) and Die große Flatter (1979), as well as television series such as Unser Lehrer Doktor Specht, Für alle Fälle Stefanie, and Familie Dr. Kleist.
