Coupe-décalé singer Claire Bailly (later Bahi) was born on June 10, 1984, in Daloa, Côte d'Ivoire. Attracted by the spotlight from an early age, she ran for Miss Côté d'Ivoire in 1999 and won Second Runner-Up. She then travelled to Paris, where she discovered Coupé Décalé, a musical genre born in Paris in the Ivorian community, as opposed to Zouglou, a musical genre whose vocation is to party. Back in her homeland, she released her first single, "A connait pas à demander". She quickly made a name for herself, becoming "La Première Dame de Coupé Décalé". Claire Bahi took center stage, releasing a single a year, including two collaborations with the acclaimed DJ Arafat, "Comme ceci, comme cela", and "Tiens ça ", released in 2011 and 2012. In 2016, she received a string of nominations and awards, including best coupé décalé artist at the Oscars de la musique ivoirienne, and best female artist at the Awards du coupé décalé. Opening up to other African music, she collaborated on singles with Togolese duo Toufan, in 2016 on the track "J'aime ça", and in 2019 with Cameroonian Mani Bella on "Coupe Bikutsi". That same year, she took part in the Festival des Musiques Urbaines D'Anoumambo, attended by 40,000 people. In August 2019, following the tragic accident of her friend DJ Arafat, Claire Bahi puts an end to her singing career. She became a pastor, preaching and touring Africa as an evangelist. She released Jesus-themed singles in 2020 and 2021.
