Elizabeth Shepherd, born in 1977 in Montreal, Quebec, is a Canadian pianist, singer, songwriter, and producer. Raised on choral music and classical piano, she earned a degree in jazz piano from McGill University. In 2004, Shepherd moved to Toronto and formed The Elizabeth Shepherd Trio. Their debut album Start to Move (2006) was nominated for a Juno Award. Subsequent albums include Parkdale (2008), Heavy Falls the Night (2010), and Rewind (2012). In 2014, she released The Signal, which featured Lionel Loueke and Larnell Lewis. Her 2019 concept album MON TREAL was nominated for a Juno Award in 2020, and the accompanying book she wrote won two Word Guild Awards. Elizabeth Shepherd has performed internationally and collaborated with artists such as Jamie Cullum and Bonobo. She has received six Juno Award nominations and was twice long-listed for the Polaris Music Prize.
