Abated Mass of Flesh, a brutal death metal band from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was formed in 2011 by Zack Plunkett. Initially a solo project, Plunkett performed all instruments and vocals on the debut EP Moth and Rust in the Temple of Putridity, released through Sevared Records. In 2013, Abated Mass of Flesh transitioned into a full band with Matthew Plunkett on vocals, Grant Alan on bass, and Topher Stanfield on drums. Their first full-length album, The Omen King, was released in June 2014 through Rottweiler Records. The band's lineup evolved over the years, notably adding Amber Mackenzie as a live bassist in 2017. Subsequent albums include Eternal Harvest (2017) and The Existence of Human Suffering (2022), which featured themes drawn from fan-submitted stories about personal struggles.
