Julian Bliss, born in 1989 in the United Kingdom, is a British clarinettist. He began playing the clarinet at age four with a Lyons C Clarinet and studied at The Purcell School for Young Musicians starting in 1997. Bliss earned his Postgraduate Artist's Diploma from Indiana University in 2001, studying under Howard Klug and Sabine Meyer. His career breakthrough came with winning the 2001 Concerto Soloists Young Artists Competition in Philadelphia. He performed at Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee in 2002 and has since collaborated with numerous orchestras including the London Philharmonic and Royal Northern Sinfonia. He also designed the Leblanc Bliss clarinet in collaboration with Leblanc.
