Daniel Leo Sultan, born in December 1983 in Melbourne, Victoria, is an Australian singer, songwriter, guitarist, pianist, and multi‑instrumentalist. He began playing guitar at four and wrote his first song at ten, later performing in local pubs while living in Fitzroy. Dan Sultan’s breakthrough came with his debut solo album Homemade Biscuits (2006), followed by Get Out While You Can (2009), which won the ARIA Awards for Best Male Artist and Best Blues & Roots Album in 2010. He continued with Blackbird (2014), earning Best Rock Album at the 2014 ARIAs, and Killer (2017), nominated for three ARIAs. In 2019 he released the children’s album Nali & Friends, winning Best Children’s Album at the 2019 ARIAs, and the studio album Aviary Takes (2019). His self‑titled album Dan Sultan (2023) peaked at Number 15 on the ARIA charts. Dan Sultan has also appeared in film and performed with Indigenous ensembles, solidifying his role in contemporary Australian music. In 2026, he released Live at Tubowgule, recorded at the Sydney Opera House.
