Charles Curtis is an American cellist known for his contributions to the avant-garde, minimalism, modern classical, and downtown music. Curtis graduated from the Juilliard School. He has been associated with Princeton University and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where he served as Professor of Contemporary Music Performance since 2000 and artistic director for the chamber music series Camera Lucida. His early training included studies under vocal master Pandit Pran Nath and composer La Monte Young. His discography includes the album Ultra White Violet Light (1997) and the archival release Performances & Recordings 1998-2018 (2020). He has collaborated with prominent composers like Eliane Radigue and Alvin Lucier.
