Livio Minafra, born on September 16, 1982, in Ruvo di Puglia, Italy, is an Italian jazz musician. He began his musical journey at age ten with piano lessons from Francesco de Santis. In 2001, he played with his father Pino Minafra's Sud Ensemble. Minafra graduated with honors from the Conservatorio Niccolò Piccinni in Bari in 2004. In 2003, he recorded his debut solo album La dolcezza del grido released under Leo Records. Throughout the 2000s, he collaborated with various artists including Keith Tippett and Louis Moholo. In 2008, Minafra released his second solo album La fiamma e il cristallo. He continued to release albums such as Surprise (2011) and Born Free (2015) with Louis Moholo. Minafra has won the Italian Jazz Award Top Jazz in 2005, 2008, and 2011. He also teaches jazz piano at Conservatorio Piccinni di Bari.
