Corquiéu, a folk group from Ribadesella, Asturias, Spain, formed in 1998. The band gained local recognition performing at the Folixa de la Sidra festival in 1998. In 2000, Corquiéu recorded their first digital tracks, which were featured on the compilation Xeneración Folk. Their debut album, La Barquera, was released in 2001 under L'Aguañaz, and their second album, Salia, followed in 2005 on Tierra Discos. In August 2012, percussionist David Mateos passed away following a car accident. Corquiéu's third album, Suaña, was released in 2010. The band toured extensively across Europe, performing in countries such as France and Italy.
