Rutger Zuydervelt, known professionally as Machinefabriek, was born on July 28, 1978, in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. Initially trained in graphic design rather than music, he began his musical career under the name Machinefabriek in 2004. His first release, Marijn, came out in 2006 on Lampse Records. Throughout his career, Machinefabriek has released numerous albums and singles, including Dauw (2008) and "Elastiek" (2012). He has collaborated with various artists such as Peter Broderick, Gareth Davis, and Hilary Jeffery, and has performed internationally in countries like Russia, Japan, and the United Kingdom. Machinefabriek's work spans genres including ambient, contemporary, minimalist, drone, and field recordings, often incorporating his graphic design skills into the artwork for his releases.
