Gina Villalobos, born May 26, 1970, in Los Angeles, California, is an American singer-songwriter and composer. Inspired by her mother's passion for music, Villalobos began teaching herself guitar at seven. In her early 20s, she fronted the acoustic folk trio Liquid Sunshine, and later fronted the band The Mades between 1997 and 2001. Villalobos started her solo career with the album Beg from Me (2002). Her breakthrough came with Rock 'N' Roll Pony (2004), which reached number 3 on the Euro-Americana charts. Villalobos toured extensively, including performances in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Her subsequent albums include Miles Away (2007) and Days on Their Side (2009). In 2014, she released her fifth solo album, Sola. Villalobos' work has been featured in TV shows such as Army Wives and the Amazon Studios show Transparent.
