The Gates of Slumber, an American doom metal band, was founded in 1997 by Karl Simon in Indianapolis. The group initially formed as a continuation of the Keep, with Simon, Chuck Brown, and Jason McCash involved. Their debut album, The Awakening, was released in 2004 via Final Chapter Records. Following this, the band released two EPs: Like a Plague Upon the Land (2005) and God Wills It (2006). Their breakthrough album, Suffer No Guilt, was released in 2006 via I Hate Records. The band's subsequent albums included Conqueror (2008) and The Wretch (2011). The Gates of Slumber disbanded in September 2013 following the departure of Jason McCash. They reformed in 2019 and released a self-titled album in 2024.
