Paul Anthony Dempsey, born on May 25, 1976, in Melbourne, Australia, is a musician best known as the frontman of Something for Kate. He formed the band in mid-1994 with school friends Clint Hyndman and Julian Carroll. The group released their debut demo tape in 1995 and signed to Murmur Records the following year. From 1996 to 2007, they released five studio albums, four of which peaked within the ARIA top ten. Dempsey's solo career began with Everything is True (2009), which reached number 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart and earned three ARIA Award nominations. Subsequent albums include Shotgun Karaoke (2013) and Strange Loop (2016).
