James Edward Jacob, born March 28, 1989 in Hereford, England, is a British music producer, songwriter, DJ, and composer known as Jakwob. His first significant public exposure came in 2009 with a bootleg of Ellie Goulding’s "Starry Eyed", which attracted attention on music blogs. In November 2009, his remix of "Under the Sheets" by Goulding received its first national radio airplay when Zane Lowe named it BBC Radio 1's "Hottest Record in the World." Jacob released his debut single, "Here with Me", on his own Boom Ting Recordings in 2010, establishing his presence in the independent scene. In 2013, Jacob issued the EP Fade, featuring the title track that reached number 35 on the UK singles chart. His work expanded into film scoring, composing the score for Molly Manning Walker’s 2023 feature How to Have Sex, which premiered at Cannes and later received three BAFTA nominations. Jacob’s discography continues to reflect his collaborative spirit, with releases alongside artists such as Kano and Ghostpoet, while maintaining a steady output of electronic compositions.
