Randolph Charles Bachman, known professionally as Randy Bachman, was born on September 27, 1943, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He is a guitarist, songwriter, and singer who began his musical journey at an early age, initially studying the violin before transitioning to guitar inspired by Elvis Presley. In 1960, Bachman co-founded Al and The Silvertones with Chad Allan, which later evolved into The Guess Who. The band achieved significant success in Canada with hits like "Shakin' All Over" (1965) and internationally with "These Eyes" (1969). Between 1969 and 1970, they released three successful albums: Wheatfield Soul, Canned Wheat, and American Woman. Bachman left The Guess Who in 1970 to form Brave Belt, which later became Bachman-Turner Overdrive (B.T.O.). With B.T.O., he achieved notable hits such as "Takin' Care of Business" and "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet". In addition to his work with these bands, Bachman has released several solo albums including Any Road (1992) and Anthology (2006). A collection of Bachman's work with Burton Cummings over the many years of their career was released in 2006 with Burton Cummings Songbook. He was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2016.
