Johnny Legend, born Martin Margulies on October 3, 1948, in San Fernando, California, was an American singer and actor. He began his musical journey by forming the folk-rock band Seeds of Time in 1966. In the early 1970s, Johnny Legend started composing for soft porn films and acting in low-budget productions. His discovery of rockabilly led to the formation of Blue Midnight with Ronnie Weiser, Ray Campi, and Chuck Higgins in 1973, followed by The Rollin’ Rock Rebels with Campi in 1974. Johnny Legend's notable albums include Johnny Legend and the Rock ’N’ Roll Combo (1979), Rockabilly Rumble (1980), Bitchin’ (1998), and I Itch (2015). He also contributed to wrestling, writing "Pencil Neck Geek" for Freddie Blassie in 1977 and co-directing the film My Breakfast with Blassie. Johnny Legend's unique stage presence and diverse career spanned music, film, and wrestling. Johnny Legend died from complications of a stroke and heart failure in Newport, Oregon, on January 2, 2026, at the age of 77.
