Michel Doneda, born on November 21, 1954 in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France, is a saxophonist known for his work in improvised music. He began playing the saxophone soprano at age fifteen, performing with local orchestres. In the early 1980s, Doneda founded the trio Hic et Nunc with Didier Masmalet and Steve Robins, and collaborated extensively with various musicians including Beñat Achiary and Fred Van Hove. His discography includes notable albums such as Araona (1988), The Difference between a Fish (2002) featuring Urs Leimgruber and Keith Rowe, and Razine with ErikM (2012). Doneda's collaborations span diverse genres including jazz, rock experimental, and traditional music. He has also ventured into literature, publishing "Miettes" in 2010. His unique style is a result of his extensive interactions with artists across various fields such as theatre, cinema, and poetry.
