Southeast Engine is an American indie folk rock ensemble formed in 2000 in Athens, Ohio. The group was founded by Adam Remnant and Leo DeLuca, who grew up in Dayton. The band utilized a musical style combining the Dayton underground scene with Appalachian folk music. The ensemble self-released the studio recordings Love Is a Murder, a Mystery of Sorts (2003) and One Caught Fire (2004). After signing with Misra Records in 2007, the group released the studio recording A Wheel Within a Wheel. The band's discography featured the recordings Coming to Terms with Gravity (2005), From the Forest to the Sea (2009), Canary (2011), and Canaanville (2012). Members of the ensemble included keyboardist Michael Lachman, bassist Jesse Remnant, and multi-instrumentalist William Matheny.
