Torae Liston Carr, known mononymously as Torae, is an American rapper from Brooklyn. Torae gained recognition through collaborations with DJ Premier and Marco Polo. His recordings include the mixtape Daily Conversation (2008) and the collaborative album Double Barrel (2009) with Marco Polo. In 2007, Torae was featured in the HipHopDX DXNext series and was named Chairman's Choice in XXL. Carr released his debut studio album, For the Record, in 2011, featuring production from Pete Rock, Large Professor, and 9th Wonder. Subsequent releases include the EP Off the Record (2012) and the album Entitled (2016). In 2014, Carr collaborated with Skyzoo for the album Barrel Brothers.
