Roger Raveloarison, known as Samoela, and born on April 2, 1976, in Madagascar, is a singer and composer. He began writing poetry and studying theater performance at a young age. In 1995, inspired by a Vahombey concert, he started composing songs that challenged Malagasy cultural norms. His debut album Mampirevy was released in 1997, featuring the single "Havako Mamomamo", which criticized societal issues and sold over 35,000 copies, setting a record for Malagasy artists. Samoela's subsequent albums include Manatosaka (1999), Efa sy Dimy (2001), Bandy Akama (2005), Efa sy Folo (2005), and Zana-bahoaka (2010). He has toured in over 15 countries around the world.
