Revocation, an American technical death metal band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 2006. Initially known as Cryptic Warning from 2000 to 2006, they consisted of David Davidson, Anthony Buda, and Phil Dubois-Coyne. They released their debut album Sanity's Aberration (2005). Dissatisfied with the production quality, they changed their name to Revocation in 2006. Their first album under the new name, Empire of the Obscene (2008), was a self-released breakthrough. They gained international recognition through extensive touring, opening for acts such as Dimmu Borgir and Suicide Silence. Revocation signed with Relapse Records and released Existence Is Futile (2009). They released the albums Chaos of Forms (2011), Deathless (2014), and Great Is Our Sin (2016). They released their seventh studio album, The Outer Ones (2018), under Metal Blade Records. It was followed by Netherheaven (2022) and New Gods, New Masters (2025), featuring guest vocalists Travis Ryan and Jonny Davy.
