Cristiano Spiller, known professionally as Spiller, was born on 3 April 1975 in Venice, Italy. As a DJ, he began his career during his adolescence, focusing on Italian house and dance music. His first single, "Laguna", released in 1997, reached number 52 on the Italian charts. In 1998, he was signed by Positiva Records UK and released "Batucada", which peaked at number 36 in Italy and number 57 in the UK. The following year, he released the Mighty Miami EP, which landed at number 10 in Italy, number 18 in the UK, and number 21 in Australia. His breakthrough came in 2000 with "Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)", a collaboration with Sophie Ellis-Bextor that topped the charts worldwide, including the UK, and sold over two million singles globally. The song became one of the most played radio hits of the decade (2000-2010) in the UK. In 2002, he released "Cry Baby", which debuted at number 40 in the UK. Subsequent singles like "Sola" (2004) and "Jumbo" (2006) didn't achieve significant commercial success, leading to his dismissal from Positiva Records UK. Despite these setbacks, he continued to produce music, including remixes such as "Teen Drive In" for Useless Wooden Toys in 2009. His 2011 release, "Pigeonman's Revenge", marked a return to his disco-house roots.
