Boom Boom Kid was the solo project of Carlos Rodríguez, a musician from Buenos Aires, Argentina, known for blending rockabilly, psychobilly, hardcore, and psychedelic punk influences. Rodríguez, previously known as Nekro and frontman of Fun People, adopted the stage name Boom Boom Kid and released his first single "Abrazame / I Do" in 2000. This was followed by Okey Dokey in 2001 under his own label Ugly/Las Feos Records; the album introduced the high‑pitched, guttural vocal style that would become his signature. Subsequent releases included Smiles from Chappanoland (2004), The Many… Many Moods Of… (2005), and Wasabi (2007). In 2007, he released Hola, mi nombre es Voon Vän Kinder, a parallel solo project recorded in Peru. In 2009, Frisbee and later El disco del invierno, El disco de la primavera, El disco del otoño, and El disco del verano (all 2017‑2018) highlighted a seasonal concept series. The 2021 studio album Bien‑venido: Zona de descan‑zo followed. Throughout his career, Rodríguez maintained independent production, releasing songs such as "She Runaway" (2004) and "Poseidótica habla con Boom Boom Kid" (2019) without major label involvement.
