Matt O'Ree, born February 26, 1972 in Holmdel, New Jersey, is an American blues-rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Influenced by artists such as Albert King and Jimi Hendrix, O'Ree picked up his first guitar at age 13 and began playing in various bands two years later. In 1994, he formed the Matt O'Ree Band, which initially performed blues-based covers and originals. The band's debut album, 88 Miles, was released in 1998, leading to opening shows for national acts like Foreigner and Buddy Guy. Subsequent albums include Chalk It Up (2001) and Shelf Life (2005). In 2006, O'Ree won the Guitarmageddon: "King of the Blues" guitar contest hosted by BB King and John Mayer. The Matt O'Ree Band continued to tour nationally and internationally.
