Gert Vlok Nel, born in 1963 in Beaufort West, South Africa, is a singer and songwriter. He studied English, Afrikaans, and history at Stellenbosch University before embarking on various jobs, including guide, bartender, and security officer. His musical career began with the release of Beaufort-Wes Se Beautiful Woorde in 1998, an album that showcased his unique blend of poetry. In 2007, he released the single "Beautiful In Beaufort-Wes". Gert Vlok Nel's work has been recognized for its innovative use of the Afrikaans language, comparable to the experiments of Antjie Krog. His album entered the Dutch charts at number 59 in 2006, marking a significant milestone in his career.
