Natty Nation, an American reggae and rock band from Madison, Wisconsin, was formed in 1995 by founding members including Jeffrey "J-Maxx" Maxwell, Demetrius "JahBoogie" Wainwright, Peter "Ras Kik It" Johnston, Steven "Cup O Tea" Cadle, and Ras Joseph "Fuzzy" Mayeur. The group began performing at local venues such as The Mango Grill in Madison. Their debut album, The Journey Has Just Begun..., was released on April 20, 1996, through Laughing Cat Records. In 2016, Divine Spark debuted at number 3 on the Billboard Reggae Chart. Natty Nation was inducted into the Madison Area Music Association Hall of Fame in October 2019, having won thirty-one MAMAs, including Performer of the Year in 2009.
