The Hugs, an American indie pop and psychedelic garage rock band from Portland, Oregon, was formed in 2007 by lead singer-songwriter Danny Delegato while attending Cleveland High School. The band gained recognition after being signed by major label Columbia Records in the United Kingdom and 1965 Records following their discovery on MySpace by rock photographer Roger Sargent of NME magazine. In 2008, they began recording sessions with Liam Watson at Toe Rag Studios in Hackney, London, but these recordings were later declined for release. The Hugs were released from their contract in 2009 and subsequently released albums independently. Their music was featured on various media platforms, including ABC Family's The Lying Game, MTV's Awkward, and HBO's Girls. Notable songs include "Never Gonna Live, Never Going To Die" and "In Love".
