Brian Alex Herwander, known professionally as DJ Scene, was born in Everett, Washington. He began his career as a drummer before transitioning to DJing at age 16 after purchasing his first turntables. After moving to Seattle at age 18, he started his radio career with KEXP-FM 90.3, followed by mixes on Mixtape at 8 for KUBE. DJ Scene gained national recognition through XM Satellite Radio 67 "The City," broadcasting his pre-recorded mixes multiple times per week. He won the Northwest DMC Champion title in 2002 and helped establish Seattle's legendary night, Yo Son! at Chop Suey. In 2013, DJ Scene placed first in the Las Vegas Red Bull Thre3Style competition and second in the national championship. His Las Vegas club career began with Club Ice in 2005, later leading to residencies at Light Nightclub inside the Bellagio, Encore Beach Club, and Haze Las Vegas.
