Born in Addis, Louisiana, on July 9, 2006, country singer John Foster Benoit III is better known as John Foster. A country music fan from an early age, he received his first acoustic guitar on his fifteenth birthday, and began writing his own songs as a self-taught musician. He was sharing the stage with artists such as Doug Stone, Ryan Foret and John Schneider when, in December 2022, he lost two of his closest friends in a car accident. He wrote the song "Tell That Angel I Love Her" in their memory, which he performed on the 23rd season of American Idol. Following other singles such as "Someone to Sing To", "Just as She Was Leaving" and "Weatherman", the viral "Tell That Angel I Love Her" reached number 6 on the Digital Song Sales chart in 2025.
