Formed in 1992 in New York, Gravediggaz contributed to the emergence of the horrorcore genre. Comprising rapper/producer Prince Paul aka The Undertaker and his Stetsasoni sidekick Frukwa (The Gatekeeper), Wu-Tang Clan founder RZA (The RZArector) and Too Poetic (The Grym Reaper), the quartet signed to the Gee Steet label gave their all on their debut album 6 Feet Deep(Niggamortis in the UK), released in August 1994. Alongside the hit "Diary of a Madman " (#82 on the Billboard Hot 100), 6 Feet Deep was a pioneering influence, helping to define the horrorcore style with its satirical concept of the early 1990s hardcore/gangsta scene. Nevertheless, tensions reigned within the group of four strong personalities, and Six Feet Deep E.P. was produced without Prince Paul, as was the collaboration with Tricky on The Hell E.P., also released in 1995. With the producer less involved, or even virtually absent, 1997 saw the release of their second album, The Pick, the Sickle and the Shovel, which was more social and also more conventional, and received a lukewarm reception. After the death of Poetic (Anthony Ian Berkeley) from colon cancer on July 15, 2001, Gravediggaz continued with the album Nightmare in A-Minor (2002), recorded with several Wu-Tang Clan members in place of RZA. Inactive for several years, while the compilation 6 Feet Under (2004) was released, the supergroup returned since 2010 and "2 More Cups of Blood" with a series of singles including "Brain Soap" (2015), "Clock of Destiny" (2017), "Belly of the Beast" (2019), the unreleased "Pass the Shovel" and "The Last Supper", featuring Shaka Amazulu the 7th in 2021.
