Born in Cahors on October 12, 1982, alto and soprano saxophonist Émile Parisien trained at the Collège de jazz de Marciac and then at the Conservatoire de Toulouse, before embarking on a career as a professional musician featuring compositions inspired by classical music and contemporary jazz. Winner of the Victoires du jazz (2009) and the Prix Django Reinhardt (2012), he recorded the self-produced quintet album Éphémère (2008), followed by Au Revoir Porc-Épic (2007), Original Pimpant (2009) and Chien Guêpe (2012) for the Laborie Jazz label. In 2014, together with accordionist Vincent Peirani, he produced the album Belle Époque, before again being awarded the Victoire du jazz for artist of the year. In the wake of Nouvelle Vague (2014), a collaboration with Stéphane Kerecki paying tribute to themes from auteur cinema, Peirani and Parisien - the two prodigies of contemporary French jazz - reunite in a quintet for the jazz fusion exercise Living Being (2015), followed by a second installment, Living Being II - Night Walker in 2018. The saxophonist in turn forms a quintet including pianist Joachim Kühn and guitarist Manu Codjia, for the album Sfumato (2016) and a tour where the performance at the Marciac festival gives rise to the public recording Sfumato - Live in Marciac (2017). Between multiple sessions and projects for Leïla Martial, Dadada, Band of Dogs, Christophe Wallemme and Tony Paeleman, Émile Parisien continues his adventure with the German label ACT with the album Out of Land (2017), featuring Vincent Peirani, Andreas Schaerer and Michael Wollny. Five years after Spezial Snack (2014), he re-forms his quartet for Double Screening (2019), followed by a second duo with V. Peirani on Abrazo (2020). The year 2020 also sees Émile Parisien go on tour with Swedes Jan Lundgren and Lars Danielsson, as evidenced by the album Into the Night (2021). The double album Louise (2022) was then recorded at the Gil Evans studio in Amiens with Nasheet Waits (drums), Joe Martin (double bass), Theo Croker (trumpet), Roberto Negro (piano) and Manu Codjia (guitar).
