Myrta Blanca Silva Oliveros, known professionally as Myrta Silva, was born on September 11, 1927, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. She began her singing career at age ten and moved to New York in the 1930s, performing in Hispanic theaters and radio stations before signing with RCA Victor. In 1939, she joined Rafael Hernández's Grupo Victoria, touring Latin America. Silva composed notable songs such as "Que Sabes Tú" and "Chencha la Gambá," which gained international recognition. She collaborated with the Sonora Matancera in Cuba from 1949 to 1952. Silva also hosted television programs like "Una Hora Contigo" and "Radio TV Mirror." Myrta Silva passed away on December 2, 1987, leaving behind a significant musical legacy that continues to impact Puerto Rican culture.
