Arvind Parikh, born on October 19, 1927 in Ahmedabad, India, is a Hindustani classical sitar player. At 17, he moved to Mumbai and began studying under Vilayat Khan, continuing his education for 60 years until Khan's death in 2004. Parikh performed extensively in India and abroad, including festivals in Europe, West Asia, Far East, and Australia. He collaborated with notable musicians such as B.R. Deodhar and Latafat Hussain Khan. Parikh was a regular performer on All India Radio and compiled compositions and ragas in Bandish Parampara (2007), published by Navras Records UK. He served as vice president of the International Music Council (UNESCO) from 1994 to 1997. Parikh received the Gaurav Puraskar in 1997-98, the National Award by Sangeet Natak Akademi for Instrumental music (sitar) in 2003, and India's third highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan, in 2018.
