Caroll Vanwelden, a Belgian jazz vocalist and pianist, was born on May 24, 1971, in Gent. She began her musical journey at age seven with classical piano lessons and later took up vocal training. In 1998, after completing a music degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Vanwelden started performing in various jazz projects. Her debut album, Colours, was released in 2008, followed by collaborations such as Cheek to Cheek with Dirk van der Linden in 2009. In 2012, she began her series of albums interpreting Shakespeare's sonnets, starting with Caroll Vanwelden Sings Shakespeare Sonnets. This was followed by two more installments in the series: Caroll Vanwelden Sings Shakespeare Sonnets 2 (2014) and Caroll Vanwelden Sings Shakespeare Sonnets 3 (2017).
