Boiled in Lead, a Celtic-rock/worldbeat band from Minneapolis, was formed in 1983. The group's initial lineup included Drew Miller on bass, Jane Dauphin on vocals and guitar, Brian Fox on fiddle, and a drum machine named "Amos Box." Their first release was the live cassette-only album Boiled Alive in 1985. The band's debut studio album, Boiled in Lead, followed in 1985, featuring Dauphin on lead vocals. Todd Menton joined as vocalist/guitarist for their second album, Hotheads, released in 1987. The band continued to evolve musically with albums like From the Ladle to the Grave (1989) and Orb (1990), incorporating a wide range of international musical traditions. Boiled in Lead has been recognized for bridging American rock with international music, influencing bands like Gogol Bordello. The group continues to perform, including annual St. Patrick's Day concerts in Minneapolis, and released their most recent EP, The Well Below, in 2012.
