Black Funeral is an American metal band formed in 1993 by Michael W. Ford after the dissolution of his previous group Sorath. Their debut album, Vampyr – Throne of the Beast, was released in 1995 through Full Moon Productions. In 1997, Black Funeral released Empire of Blood. The band's activities slowed down as Ford focused on other projects like Valefor and Psychonaut 75. However, he released later albums under the Black Funeral name, including Belial Arisen (2003) and Az-i-Dahak (2004). Notable releases include Ordog (2006), which featured contributions from Saint ov Gravediggers and Nico Claux, and Waters of Weeping (2007). The band's discography also includes Vukolak (2010) and the EP Choronzon Blood Rite (2012). Black Funeral is known for its exploration of themes such as vampirism, Luciferianism, and Satanism.
