Veda Hille was born on August 11, 1968, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Hille is a singer-songwriter and keyboardist who began playing piano at age six. After working for a year as a lounge musician, Hille self-released the debut cassette Songs about people and buildings (1992). Her first CD, Path of a body (1994), appeared on her own Ball of Flames label. During the late 1990s, she toured across Canada, the United States, and Germany, releasing albums including Spine (1996) and Here is a picture (Songs for E Carr) (1998). In 2005, Hille signed with Ape Records and released Return of the Kildeer (2005). Collaborations include working with Christof Migone on the album Escape Songs (2004) and composing for theater productions. Discography releases also include the albums Love Waves (2016) and Beach Practice (2022).
