Carl Michalski, born on January 18, 1911, in Bochum, Germany, was a German composer and conductor. He began his career as conductor at the Bochum Municipal Theatre from 1932 to 1934 and conducted the Munich Reich Broadcasting Station from 1934 to 1938. Michalski also worked at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, where he composed the operetta Gitta in 1942. In 1952, he returned to the reopened Gärtnerplatztheater as musical director and conducted notable operettas such as Die keusche Susanne, Kiss Me, Kate and Der Vogelhändler. He made several recordings with various orchestras. Michalski passed away on December 11, 1998, in Bad Wiessee.
