Strung-Out Troubadours is a Canadian acoustic guitar duo composed of Rik Emmett and Dave Dunlop. The pair met in 1990 while teaching at the National Summer Guitar Workshop, after which Dunlop began performing at Emmett’s concerts. They formally began recording together under the name Strung-Out Troubadours in 2006, releasing their self-titled debut album that same year. A live performance recorded at Hugh's Room in Toronto was also released in 2006. In 2007, the duo won Album of the Year and Group/Duo of the Year at the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards. They continued to release albums including Push & Pull (2009) and reCOVERy room 9 (2011), the latter consisting primarily of cover songs. Emmett and Dunlop also released Then Again, a collection of live acoustic recordings of material from Triumph, Emmett’s former band, under their individual names. As of 2015, the duo continued to perform together across Canada and the United States while selling remastered versions of their recordings.
