Özlem Tekin, born on November 18, 1971, in California, United States of America, is a Turkish singer, songwriter, and occasional actress renowned for her dynamic musical evolution. Raised in Ankara, she studied classical Western music at Hacettepe University, specialising in clarinet. Her musical journey began in the underground rock scene with the band The Bad, followed by a stint as the keyboardist and occasional lead vocalist for the all-female rock band Volvox. In 1995, she launched her solo career with the album Kime Ne, which garnered critical acclaim and featured hits like "Aşk Herşeyi Affeder Mi?". Subsequent albums such as Öz (1998) and Laubali (1999) showcased her versatility, blending hard rock with elements of pop and Turkish folk music. Beyond music, Tekin ventured into television, hosting the talk show Yaz Rüzgarı in 2000 and acting in the TV series Sil Baştan (2003–2005) and the film Hokkabaz (2006). Although her musical activity tapered off after 2013, Özlem Tekin remains a significant figure in the Turkish music scene, celebrated for her contributions to rock and pop music.
