Eurogliders were formed in Perth, Western Australia, in 1980 by guitarist and vocalist Bernie Lynch, keyboardist Amanda Vincent, and later joined by Grace Knight on lead vocals; the group emerged from the earlier band The Stockings and Living Single. Their breakthrough came with the 1984 single "Heaven (Must Be There)", which peaked at number 2 on the Australian singles chart and entered the US Billboard Hot 100, and the album This Island, released in May 1984 and produced by Nigel Gray, which reached number 4 on the Australian albums chart. In 1985 the follow‑up album Absolutely! entered the top ten, and singles "We Will Together" and "Can't Wait to See You" reached number 7 and number 8 respectively. The band signed with CBS Records, toured Australia, North America, and Japan, and released their fourth studio album Groove in 1988, which peaked at number 25 in Australia. After internal lineup changes and the departure of key members, Eurogliders disbanded in 1989; Grace Knight pursued a successful jazz career while Bernie Lynch engaged in theatre and business management. The group reformed in 2005, issuing Eurogliders in 2005, and released Don't Eat the Daisies in 2014, continuing to perform in Australia and supporting international acts such as Simple Minds and OMD in subsequent tours. In 2021, the band released The Blue Kiss Project. On March 12, 2026, Bernie Lynch died from throat cancer at the age of 72.
