Ashkan Kooshanejad, known professionally as Ash Koosha, and born in Tehran, Iran, is a British-Iranian composer and entrepreneur. He studied music at the Tehran Conservatory of Music and gained initial recognition through his role in the docufiction film No One Knows About Persian Cats (2009), directed by Bahman Ghobadi. Kooshanejad's musical career began with the release of his debut album GUUD in 2015, which received positive reviews. His second album, I AKA I, was released in 2016 under Ninja Tune and featured CGI videos created by Hirad Sab. Koosha also became known for pioneering the use of virtual reality and artificial intelligence in his music, notably introducing a virtual singer named Yona.
