Rocky Dawuni, born on January 22, 1969 in Ghana, is a singer and songwriter known for his distinctive 'Afro Roots' sound. Dawuni's introduction to reggae came during his childhood when he heard a military band play Bob Marley's compositions at Camp Michel. Dawuni's early albums include Crusade (1998) and Awakening (2001). His album, Branches of the Same Tree, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in December 2015, marking Ghana's first Grammy nomination. In 2019, Dawuni released "Beats of Zion", a single from his studio album of the same name, featuring Stonebwoy. Dawuni's album, Voice of Bunbon, Vol. 1, earned him another Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album in 2022.
