Poema, an American acoustic singer-songwriter duo from Albuquerque, New Mexico, was formed in 2008 by sisters Elle and Shealeen Puckett. The duo began performing music at a young age, playing Elvis covers at local gas stations to earn money for candy. Their breakthrough moment came after a benefit show in their hometown, leading to the formation of Poema and subsequent victories in a "Battle of the Bands" competition. In 2009, they signed with Tooth & Nail Records following a personal call from founder Brandon Ebel. The duo released the EP Once A Year in November 2010 and followed it up with their full-length album Remembering You in September 2012. Poema was featured on every date of the Warped Tour's Girlz Garage in 2010 and collaborated with Aaron Sprinkle on several projects. In 2014, they announced their separation from Tooth & Nail Records to become an independent band.
