Michael Coleman, born June 24, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, was an American guitarist and singer known for his contributions to the blues genre. He started performing at a young age with local musicians and turned professional in 1975. By 1979, he was touring Europe with Eddy Clearwater's band, leading to a decade-long stint with James Cotton. Coleman's solo career included the release of the single "Woman Loves a Woman" in 1987. He formed the Backbreakers as his backing band in 1991 and released Shake Your Booty through Wolf Records in 1995. His debut U.S. album, Do Your Thing!, was published by Delmark Records in 2000. Coleman died on November 2, 2014, at the age of 58.
