Yfriday, a British Christian rock and worship band from Newcastle upon Tyne, was formed in 1994 as the house band for Youth for Christ's monthly evangelistic outreach event called WhyFriday?. The group gained popularity over time. In 1999, they released their debut album Rainmaker, which led to a three-year recording contract with Kingsway. Bassist Danny Smith joined the band in 2001 for the release of Open. Yfriday released several albums, including Revolution (2003), Universal (2006), and Great & Glorious (2009). Lead singer Ken Riley co-wrote the globally recognized song "Everlasting God", which received an ASCAP Award in 2008. The band played their final concert on October 31, 2010, at Newcastle City Hall and disbanded later that year.
