Pedro Ample Candel, known professionally as Pedro Ruy-Blas, was born in Madrid, Spain, on July 7, 1949, and is a singer, drummer, composer, and actor. He began his musical career as a teenager, performing with groups such as Los Príncipes and Los Grimm before joining the band Los Canarios in 1968. His breakthrough came with the release of "A los que hirió el amor" in 1970, which became a notable success in Spain. He then formed the jazz-rock fusion group Dolores, releasing albums such as Luna Llena (1975), Dolores (1976), and La puerta abierta (1977). The group collaborated with Paco de Lucía, contributing to a significant shift in flamenco music. In 1980, Ruy-Blas resumed his solo career with the album Madre Ciudad (1984). He also ventured into acting, starring in musicals like Jesucristo Superstar (1984), Les misérables (1991), and provided vocals for animated films such as El príncipe de Egipto (1998).
