Hildegard lernt fliegen is a Swiss avant-garde jazz ensemble founded in 2005, led by singer Andreas Schaerer. The group initially formed to perform Schaerer's original compositions, blending influences from genres such as march, jazz, ska, and funk. In 2007, Hildegard lernt fliegen released their self-titled debut album on Unit Records. Notable albums include ...vom fernen Kern der Sache (2009) and The Fundamental Rhythm of Unpolished Brains (2014). They won the ZKB Jazz Prize in 2008. The band received several awards, including the ZKB Jazz Prize in 2008, the BMW Welt Jazz Award in 2014. and the Ravensburger Kupferle cabaret prize in 2015.
