Marco Boni, born on October 30, 1960 in Italy, is a conductor. He graduated from the Academy of Music in Milan and began his career as a cellist, performing with the orchestra of the Comunale theatre in Bologna and founding the group Virtuosi Italiani. In 1987, Boni transitioned to conducting under Sergiu Celibidache. His breakthrough came in 1994 when he was appointed Main Conductor of the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra of Amsterdam. With this orchestra, he has performed extensively across Europe and Asia, including notable tours with cellist Misha Maisky. Boni has also conducted major orchestras such as the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Wiener Kammersymphonie. His discography includes recordings of works by Haydn, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, Bach, and Verdi. Recent collaborations include performances with the Orchestra Regional Toscana and Swingle Singers.
